Holiday madness!

Comic might be delayed, as my long faithful wacom tablet is coughing out its dying breaths. And while I'm not quite broke I'm also a bit uneasy with spending too much on a new one, so until I can find something affordable art is going to be very difficult to do. I might just delay this one and try a comic in pencil to have for you this week.

'Tis the season though so I'm staying positive :)

What size are you looking for?

I've been using a 3x5 and it's worked just fine. A size up would be all right too (I have a small desk and can't go too big right now) so either that or a 6x8 is what I'm seeking out.

I can't promise anything but let me poke around. I'm assuming as an artist that your budget is about the price of a pizza so I'll see if I can find a deal for you.

What exact model have you been using? I might be able to locate just the tablet and you'd be able to use your existing pen.

This one for example: http://ds5.org/3662

Send me an LJ message if you happen to find one yourself but I'll keep looking.

(Also found this one but it's an auction not a Buy-It-Now: http://ds5.org/3663 )

I have a Wacom that I bought a while ago that I never use, in the belief that having it would magically make me an artist.

Would you like to have it? It's currently collecting dust and doing FUCK-ALL in the way of being useful.

And, yes, by "have it" I mean "for free." You don't even have to pay for mailing. =D

I'm one of those weirdoes that just likes to be nice when the opportunity shows up. Also...? You make me laugh so hard. =D

Wacoms are so awesome! I can see how that would delay by a whole lot. I might just die along with mine if it happened...

My girlfriend wishes you would post a new comic, if only so that I will stop exclaiming, "HA! Vagina fish!" every. single. time. I check the page.

I, on the other hand, am just fine with this one staying up, because annoying her is fun.

And here I thought I was the only one to do such a thing. XD

By the way: big YAY for Shinga!

My girlfriend now has her revenge on me for exclaiming, "HA! Vagina fish!" all the time.

I proposed to her tonight, and now she keeps exclaiming, "Ha! Engagement fish!"

Huh, funny, I pretty much did the exact same thing this Xmas where I replaced my old tiny tablet with a ginormous one.
Both were Bamboo though, and I ignored the crapware bundled with both and opted for using Gimp, so transitioning wasn't all too troublesome, it just took a bit to get used to it's size.
I hope you get used to it without too much trouble!

Oh, how dare you take your time learning how to use new technology. All, so that you can bring us amazing entertainment.

I have an Intous4 Medium, love it, but I couldn't do the "look at the monitor and draw on the tablet" thing, and drawing straight lines in the orientation I wanted was a bitch, I even taped a sheet of grid paper onto it. So I bought a used Cintiq 12 off eBay. I still suck at drawing, but at least it mimicks drawing on paper, so I can't blame the media for the suckage, it is all me. I would recommend a Cintiq if you can manage it.

Also, have to say, I love your comics, your sense of humour closely parallels mine, and I like your drawing style. I have also strongly recommended it to my daughter, she would like your take on things.

I gave my 14yo daughter a wacom bamboo and manga studio debut for Christmas. She's talented and has been making comics for the refrigerator door for a couple years now - I'd love her to get into web comics and she has started her 'cast' profile pages. The problem we're having - and that I hope to get some free advice/tech support (just being honest) - the last few times she's use manga studio, when she starts to draw the line skips to the left about a quarter-inch on the screen away from the pointer, and the gap remains there. Sometimes unplugging the tablet USB and reconnecting will reslove, otehr times a full reboot is necessary, but the problem always seems to come back. The wierd thing is it has only happened in the Manga program - was wondering if you've ever experienced this, and know a quick fix? Or can you recommend a better software packge for her to use as a start-up?

Thanks,
Steve

OK, I see this really raised everybody's curiosty... HA! Anyways, in case some interpid user floats by in the distant future, the solution was to uninstall the tablet from Device manager, then reinstall letting Windows pull the latest driver from Wacom's site. Still don't know why it only had that problem in Manga, though....

Are you okay? Not worried about a comic update (okay, I *am*, but that can wait) more concerned at your well-being. Show us a sign. Blow a whistle. Wave a flag...

No, I won't be able to see or hear those. New plan.

Say something on here... :)

No kidding, even a message with "augh! stupid tablet sucks!" would be perfectly ok :)
